HP Spectre x360 - 13-ap0043dx
Microsoft Windows 11

*Noted in the Device Manager, after a fresh install of Windows 11 25H2, I have a PCI Serial Port that needs drivers.  The "properties" of this device reveal:  "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) |

There are no compatible drivers for this device."

Can someone help, as it worked for a brief period-of-time and then suddenly (I guess after a Windows Update) decided to throw the error.

*Also have three entries of "Unknown device"

Thank You

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you with that problem because there are no standalone drivers for the Intel USB 3.1 controller and apparently there is some kind of configuration issue that is preventing the device from starting.

You could try uninstalling the device, check the uninstall driver box, restart the PC and see if that gets the device to install properly.

You may also want to install the latest Intel chipset driver for your notebook's processor and chipset and see if that resolves the problem.

Please post the hardware ID's for the devices that need drivers.

Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device:

How to Find Drivers for Unknown Devices in the Device Manager

Hello Paul:

Ok, that was an amazingly quick response!  Thank You, so much.  And, sorry I did not include the ID's, which from reading other posts I should have remembered.

Regarding the PCI Serial Port - the ID's are:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9DFC&SUBSYS_8514103C&REV_30
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9DFC&SUBSYS_8514103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9DFC&CC_070000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9DFC&CC_0700

Regarding the three (3) "Unknown devices" - the ID's are as follows:

ACPI\VEN_INT&DEV_3400
ACPI\INT3400
*INT3400

ACPI\VEN_INT&DEV_3403
ACPI\INT3403
*INT3403

ACPI\VEN_INT&DEV_3403
ACPI\INT3403
*INT3403

Hope this is very helpful.

You're very welcome.

You need this driver for the PCI Serial Port:

Intel Integrated Sensor Solution Driver

sp96858.exe

You need this driver for the other devices:

Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Client Driver

sp100912.exe

Paul:

So, the sp96858 fixed (it appears) the PCI Serial Port Driver issue.  Thank You, so much.

However, now in place of the warning on the PCI Serial Port Driver, a new issue has popped-up and labeled: "Intel-Sensor" (Driver's not installed [Code 28]).  ID for that item is:  {DEA5AE2A-D1FD-438A-A091-CBD484788435}\ISH_BUS

Also, should I just delete the "Unknown device" entries?  Nothing you asked me to do resolved those.

Unfortunately, t would appear that the last Windows Update really created chaos with these devices.

You're very welcome.

Try manually installing the driver from the devices in the device manager by browsing to their respective driver folders.

Click on the device needing the driver, click on the driver tab, click on Update driver, select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option.

The ISH_BUS device should be located in C:\SWSetup\96858.

[Intel.NTamd64.10.0]
; ----- Win 10 ; x64 -------
%DynamicBus.DeviceDesc%=Bus_DDI, {DEA5AE2A-D1FD-438A-A091-CBD484788435}\ISH_BUS

Do the same thing for the unknown ACPI\VEN_INT&DEV_3400 and ACPI\VEN_INT&DEV_3403 devices which are located in C:\SWSetup\sp100912.

[INTEL.NTamd64.10.0...17134]
%INT3400.DeviceDesc% = DptfAcpi,ACPI\INT3400
%INT3401.DeviceDesc% = DptfAcpi,ACPI\INT3401
%INT3402.DeviceDesc% = DptfAcpi,ACPI\INT3402
%INT3403.DeviceDesc% =DptfAcpi,ACPI\INT3403

Hello Paul:

With your help, "we're" making progress!  🙂

And, with your help, I've been successful in resolving the "Intel_Sensor_01, _02 & _03 issues as-well-as the "Unknown device" issues.  All have gone away after the Drivers were installed per your instructions.

However, I now have one other issue that appears to have popped-up.  This issue is under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" and is labeled:

"Intel(R) USB 3.1 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.10 (Microsoft) - [ID's:  PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15D4&SUBSYS_8514103C&REV_02
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15D4&SUBSYS_8514103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15D4&CC_0C0330
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15D4&CC_0C03

Under "Properties" and "General" it is noted:  "This device cannot start (Code 10)" "An invalid parameter was passed to a service or function."   However, when I try to update the Driver, it is noted that Windows has installed the best Driver for this device.  Interestingly there is an identical entry below this one w/o the ORANGE/YELLOW ! notation and they both have the same Driver (10.0.26100.7019)

If we can resolve those, 'we' (hopefully) will have cleared-the-deck.  Perhaps until (and I hope not) another Microsoft Update creates more chaos.

Thank You.  You have been most helpful and I sincerely appreciate your persistence.
