HP 6005 Desktop MOBO bios looking for correct file for Linux Mint 21.0
The concern is that Linux Mint 21.01 boots fine and works well - in attempt to upgrade to Linux Mint 21.00 the computer does not boot to the hard drive. Note I can run Linux Mint 21.00 of and ISO which works fine - just not on the hard drive

There are no OS BIOS updates except for Windows.
Use the F10 BIOS flash method to update the BIOS.
I have zipped up and attached the DOS flash file folder for the last BIOS update HP released for the 6005 Pro which is v1.17, that is from 2012, so I doubt that updating the BIOS is going to make any difference.
So, if you are not running on v.1.17 and want to update the BIOS anyway...
Get a USB flash drive.
Format it with the FAT32 file system.
Unzip the BIOS file folder I zipped up and attached and copy all of the files inside that folder to the USB flash drive--just the files, not the folder.
Restart the PC.
Tap the F10 key to get access to the BIOS.
Select the File tab>Flash System ROM command.
Select the USB flash drive.
The PC should 'see' the files on the flash drive.
Follow the onscreen instructions to update the BIOS.
Note: You cannot go back to a previous BIOS version older than v1.15 after you install this update as is indicated in the release notes:

For research - I installed new SSD, then ran the Linux Mint 21.02 ISO to boot from DVD. Then did fresh install. Worked like normal event. Exited the install then removed the DVD then restart the system, Worked fine.
Then turned off tried the other SSD and no results. Then used that SSD in a different HP desktop and that worked fine. So my observation is this HP Desktop has almost correct BIOS on fresh install directly GRUB must have added or overlooked something. Because now the Desktop is fine with the Linux Mint 21.02 as direct install. It will now take a long while to get this properly configured. Oh well still prefer LM vs pretty much all the other OS systems.
