I just installed a Firewire card which I removed from my old computer running Windows XP. It was working fine in the XP machine. In my HP 6200SFF, I was hoping that Windows will automaticall detect the card and install necessary drivers. But it did not and I get follwing messages in General tab of properties for Other Devices/PCI Serial Port under Device Manager.
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There are no compatible drivers for this device.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.
I clicked on Update Driver but it could not find any. I am not sure if this device was like that before installing the card or not. I removed the card but the device still shows same messages.
Please help me to get the Firewire card going.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Here is what I recommend you do.
W10 installed a newer driver for the Intel Management Engine Interface, which is why you are getting that message.
So, cancel out of the auto install and do this...
Go to the device manager.
Click on the PCI serial port device needing the driver.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the driver file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp69506.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and just the driver for the PCI serial port will install, leaving the newer W10 Intel management engine interface driver intact.

Hi:
What is the hardware ID for the PCI Serial Port that needs the driver?
Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device.
https://www.howtogeek.com/193798/how-to-find-drivers-for-unknown-devices-in-the-device-manager/
There is usually another device labeled as a PCI serial port that needs this driver.
Windows 10 never installs the driver for it.
This package contains the Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) Driver for supported models running a supported operating system.

You need the driver I posted for that ID.
So the firewire card did get installed, or i the PC didn't even recognize it when you installed the card.
Where did you post the driver ?

I posted the link to the driver in my first reply to your post.
Here it is again...

Hi Paul.
I followed your steps exactly to install the driver and Bingo...., it worked. My Firewire card is working again and I even captured a Test video to make sure.
Thanks a lot for your very prompt and great support. Really appreciate it.
