Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP pre-built laptop that was used and had added upgrades. The specs are an I7-7700, 16GB DDR4 ram, GTX 1650 4GB, and an HP-830C motherboard. My question comes with the motherboard. I cannot seem to find any specific specs for the motherboard anywhere online and I am looking to make some upgrades. My questions are mainly, can it support up to 64GB ram, and can it handle an RTX 3050 Windforce 8GB motherboard. In addition, how many hard drives can the motherboard hold?

And off topic from the upgrades, are there any links at all that show the specific motherboard specs?

@thunderrug,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

You have come to the right place.

Your OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 870-244 (Z5M59AA) is fitted with the Thimphu-K motherboard (SSID: 830C), and here is HP's Thimphu-K specs: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05369438.

Your PC can be fitted with up to 4 x 16GB of DDR4 PC4-19200, 2400 MHz, Non-ECC, UDIMM, 288-pin RAM sticks.

The specs for your PC say that it has a 500-watt (ATX) power supply -please check.  If you do, you can definitely power a GeForce RTX 3050 WINDFORCE OC 8GB, all the way up to a smaller-sized (dual fan) RTX 4060 Ti powered by a single 8-pin PCIe power cable, such as this model: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/asus-dual-rtx-4060-ti-oc.b11144.

Since your motherboard is 24-pin ATX-power enabled, you can use any ATX power supply as long as you watch its dimensions (LxWxH) for fit inside your case.

Your motherboard got five (5) SATA 6GB/s connectors:

Meaning, in theory you could connect up to 5 SATA HDD/SSD drives, plus you got one M.2 NVMe SSD slot:

Btw, the best processor compatible with your PC is an i7-7700K, as this HP OMEN by HP 870-244 DT PC User shows: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/67981765.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,
