HP 935 Creator Wireless Mouse

I noticed that my HP 935 Creator Wireless Mouse, connected via Bluetooth to my MacBook Pro running macOS Ventura 13.3.1, stops scrolling when lifted up from the desk. When I put it down again, after approximately half a second, the scrolling wheel starts working again.

This behavior applies only for scrolling, as all the other buttons work properly when the mouse is not touching any surface.

This issue is very annoying because when using the mouse, if you lift it (even for some milliseconds) to adjust its position, scrolling will stop working for approximately half a second.

Is there anything I can do to solve this problem? Is there any firmware upgrade that addresses this issue? (I personally think it's merely a software issue)

Thanks.
