Microsoft Windows 11

I need advice on this issue: When I put my computer to sleep (Start > Power Button > Sleep), I can't wake my computer by clicking the mouse or pressing any key. Instead, I have to press the power button, which causes the fan to run loudly, but Windows 11 fails to load. The screen stays solid black while the fan continues running fast. To resolve this, I press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to force a shutdown. Only after restarting this way does Windows load, although my browser then displays a message saying, 'Closed unexpectedly, press Restore [tabs].' This is currently the only way I can log back in.

I bought this computer in 2021, and it still works well overall. However, sometimes when I'm watching videos on YouTube or have multiple tabs open in Microsoft Edge, the fan starts running loudly.

These are my computer spec's:

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10510U CPU @ 1.80GHz, 2301 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)

Installed physical memory: 16 GB of RAM

BIOS Version/Date: AMI F.43, 04/10/2023

I would like to know if I can add more physical memory. I might need to change the battery for the CMOS. I’d appreciate any suggestions on how to make my computer work more efficiently and extend its lifespan beyond what’s expected.

I suspect it to be the method in putting the PC to sleep.  It is very easy to do.  While the PC is running normally, left click on the "Windows" square next to the search box in the bottom menu bar.  In the next window, at the bottom right there is a "power" icon.  Click on that and then pick "sleep" from the popup menu. It will appear to turn off but it is sleeping.

In order to wake the computer, hit the enter key.  It will proceed to wake and show the startup screen.  Left click the mouse with the pointer under the time indication.  Then enter the pin when prompted.  It should be functional in a short time.

It will not be necessary to make any other changes.  The fan noise while watching videos is probably due the system being under additional load.  It might be beneficial to clean accumulated dust from the insides of the PC.

16GB of RAM is adequate for normal computer tasks and there should not be need for more, unless you are doing more tasks IE: processing video or digital pictures.

I already tried the method you recommended but the issue remains. It keeps doing the same. I still haven't opened it yet to clean it up.

I re-read the first post.  This comment " my browser then displays a message saying, 'Closed unexpectedly, press Restore [tabs]."

When I sleep my PC,

I close the browser, if it is open, and most every other program I have open.  I do this every day.  Perhaps try closing programs, after saving your work, especially ones that may use allot of resources. Then I put it to sleep in the manner I described above.  See if that makes a difference.

The issue persists. I'm referring to the main problem where the computer when in "sleep" mode, turns on by itself. Other times, I can't wake it up unless I restart it. On some occasions, the computer turns on, but it's just the fan, with nothing on the screen, and I still have to restart it. All of this happens even with the method you recommended. I have modified the power options, updated the BIOS, and even used a Norton app called Driver Scan to perform a scan. The app found 7 outdated drivers. I updated them and rebooted the system, but the issue persists.
