Brand new HP All in One 24-g237c running Windows 10, 2.5ghz processor, 8 gigs of RAM (6.98 available), is running EXTREMELY slow. Multitasking between the browser with 4 tabs and PowerPoint. Nothing else is running but everything continues to not respond. Click items on PowerPoint takes a minute or more to respond and switching between windows makes everything freeze. It took 10 minutes from click to open for Mcafee to open. Nothing has been downloaded to the computer in the 24 hours that we have owned it. I checked desk defragmenter and it said that it was fine. Task manager was freezing with three applications running.

While background tasks might be hindering initially, the more serious issue is the actual computer.
Based on numerous reports, this entry level computer, which has a 2.2Ghz processor (with 2.5Ghz burst) is simply slow. Reports example 1 example 2
PowerPoint 2019 requires 1.6Ghz processor. You load on the browser, McAfee, and your slowing down processor cycles.

Hi
Bad news I'm afraid...
In the first few days a PC can be downloading all sorts of MS updates in the background, and this can cause cripplingly slow user experience.
So after all this has happened the experience should improve.
So an occasional re-boot may help.
