HP all in one 24
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Ever since purchase (about 6 months ago) my HP all one one 24 has been incredibly slow. I use it for browsing the web and using word/excel. Every function of the computer is slow, the internet is slow to load and reaction time is slow for the apps I use. I have tried resetting everything and updating to rebooting and still have had no luck. I purchased it thinking I was upgrading my old PC.... however this HP is the worst PC I have ever used. This is very frustrating!!

@brodyt91 Welcome to HP Forums Community!

Have you attempted to perform a hard reset?

Did you run a hardware test on the device?

While you respond to that, here's what I recommend you do:

First, let's start with performing a hard reset on the PC to release any excessive static/power that could have caused the issue.

  1. Turn off the computer.

  2. Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and media cards.

  3. Disconnect the AC power adapter.

  4. Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds.

  5. Reconnect the AC power adapter.

  6. Turn on the computer.

If the blank screen issue is resolved, you are done.

If the screen is still blank, continue with the next step to listen for computer beeps and look at the lights.

Second, you can check if there is Bios update available for your PC, here is the link to download.

Performing a test on the Hard drive as well as on the Memory from the Hardware diagnostics:

  1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

  2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
  3. On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.

  4. Click Extensive Test.

  5. Click Run once, or Loop until error.

While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component are shown on the screen. The test can take 2 or more hours to complete.

   NOTE:

If the diagnostics are not available when using the F2 menu, run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics from a USB drive. To download the latest version of the diagnostics, go to the HP Hardware Diagnostics website. For instructions, see Testing from an external USB device.

Depending on the test results, If the test passes then I would suggest you perform a complete system recovery.

Note: Recovery will wipe off everything from the computer. If you have anything important get in touch with some local stores to get your data backed up.

Thanks tried all that - Computer seems to have improved marginally but for a brand new PC it is still slower and less responsive then my PC purchased in 2010....

What other options are there? Am i able to return this PC and upgrade to a better HP? I just want to be able to do my work and search the net without any issues.

@brodyt91 If you've purchased this device recently, you may be able to get the replacement as per the 15-day replacement policy, although the timeframe depends on the place of purchase and you can get the device repaired any time if there are any hardware issues as such, which is why I recommend (in case its past the replacement date) to run an extensive hardware test on your device using the below steps:

  • Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
  • Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
  • On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
  • Click Extensive Test.
  • Click Run once, or Loop until error.
  • While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component display on the screen.

If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) for when you respond back to us.
