HP ENVY h8-1420t CTO Desktop PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hello HP support forums, I've been upgrading components in my HP Envy H8-1420t case and the computer never successfully boots (although it powers on, the screen stays black and it will intermittently shut down).  I've done some looking on hardware forums and decided to make an account and post here.

In trying to determine the cause of this issue, I've noticed the connections in the case (H8-1420t) don't perfectly align with the new motherboard I'm installing (GIGABYTE B660M Gaming X AX)-- for instance, the case wire that went to the old motherboard's "front panel" pins (F_PANEL) only has enough "slots" (the header holes on the wire) for half the pins on my new motherboard's F_PANEL. Similar small incompatibilities exist with Front Panel USB slots, etc. (the red box outlines the case connection, which does not cover the whole F_PANEL header)An example of the described F_PANEL issue-- the red box represents the connection from the Case wire, which isn't big enough to cover the whole headerAn example of the described F_PANEL issue-- the red box represents the connection from the Case wire, which isn't big enough to cover the whole headerI have done lots of research on the internet to find out what could cause this, and in trying to narrow the possible problems, I decided to post here to at least eliminate the chance that the case compatibility is the driving issue. If anyone wants to dig into this case with me, feel free, but I'm mostly trying to rule out case compatibility.

TL;DR: My PC won't fully turn on with a new mobo in the Envy H8-1420t's case. I want to know if the case wiring might be incompatible, and if that is causing my issue, at least to rule it out-- I don't need a fix at the moment 🙂

Moving HP Motherboard to a new gaming case

the problem is both ways
So the best solution would be to change the box
A case / tower other than that of hp, with more possibilities, bigger, would be much better
