HP Compaq 6000 Pro SFF
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I rebuild omputers and give them to home-schooled children. I have recently recieved 5 HP Compaq 600 Pro SFF machines. I have removed all of the RAM to clean them and when I went to place the 8GB of RAM back in each one I get the '5 Beeps of RAM death'. This RAM CAME OUT OF THESE MACHINES! It's Hynix 2GB 2Rx8 PC3 - 10600E-9-10-E0, Model number: HMT125U7TFR8C-H9 TO AB-C. Everything I read tells me this should still work.

When I cleaned the machines I did NOT use a vacuum cleaner. I have a regulated compressor that I use and I NEVER touch anything metal when I'm blowing them out. I also ground the machines ona metal table.

All of these machines worked prior to me disassembling them. Is there a CMOS settingthat may have changed when I pulled the battery out?

Please help. I have three kids who are in need of a computer and I have everything I need, I just can't get the machines to boot.

I also have a 4GB stick of Corsair CMX4GX3M1A1333C9 that won't work, either, as well as two sticks of Samsung M378B22873FHS-CH9 1021 that WILL work if installed in pairs but I need to install more RAM.

Thank you, Erich

Your computers: HP Compaq 6000 Pro Small Form Factor PC Product Specifications

Memory - supports un-buffered non-ECC DDR3 SDRAM

• HP 4GB PC3-10600 (DDR3 1333 MHz) DIMM

• HP 2GB PC3-10600 (DDR3 1333 MHz) DIMM

• HP 1GB PC3-10600 (DDR3 1333 MHz) DIMM

Maximum Memory - supports up to 16GB of un-buffered non-ECC DDR3 SDRAM

The motherboard does not support 8GB per stick.  Use four 4GB sticks to achieve 16GB.

Find some RAM that does work, boot the computer, and enter BIOS SETUP, to see if the "timings" for the RAM have been manually entered.  If so, set them to "automatic".

Maybe, use "Load BIOS Defaults".

Does the RAM work in some other computer?

With 4 slots for RAM, try putting RAM into DIMM #1 and DIMM #2.

Try putting RAM into DIMM #1 and DIMM #3.

Try putting RAM into DIMM #1 and DIMM #4.

MDKLASSEN: I didn't even think of that! Yes, the RAM (all of it) has functioned in a few other machines, and it initially worked in these BUT I did take the battery out of each one SO, I will try this ASAP. It sounds like a good solution. The RAM config SHOULD be correct, since it was initially installed in these machines. Thank you very much and I will follow up with my results. . .. . .

6000Pros are a PITA when comes to RAM sticks, did you manage to solve this problem?

I bought 4 sicks (from two separate batches) of Kingston KVR13N9s8/4 (4GB pc3-10600 CL9) Unbuffered, non-ECC.
i've updated the (very limited) BIOS, but still wont work with non OEM ram.

The original sticks were samsung rebranded "SMART" m378b5673eh1-ch9 2GB PC3-10600-09-10-b0

Mine are LATAM revision 6000 Micro Towers

How many memory chips per side for the Kingston RAM?

Are there the same number of chips on each side, or just "none" on one side?

Some motherboards have problems with "too-dense" chips -- either not liking them at all, or only using "half" of the RAM.

They are Lo-Profile, Single Sided rams, only 8 chips. the full size, double sided 2GB stick has 8 too, half the capacity though.
TBH, asume is a memory geometry matter feels off

Could there be any timming related issue going on? i've couldn't find any info for the OEM RAM, the "-CH9" gives nothing

Hmm.

I think that 'CL9' and '09' are different expressions of the same clocking.
