HP Compaq 8200 Elite convertible mini-tower use ECC server RAM?

HP Recommended
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am looking to upgrade my systems memory. I would like to know if HP Compaq 8200 Elite can use ECC RAM or not? I can't seem to find an answer.

Hi:

The 8200 Elite can only use non-ECC memory, and you can find the official specs at the link below...

The memory specs start on page 10.

Strange as it seems, I just plugged 2x2GB modules of non-registered ECC pc3-12800 (1600) memory on an SFF 8200 Elite.

They work like a charm.

What I also find remarkable is how they work together with another non-ECC 2GB module at 1066 MHz.

Good to know, I just harvested 4x 8gb sticks from an old server so will give that  a try later! Thanks.

I tried some working registered ECC RAM I pulled from an HP server, 8GB PC3-10600 sticks (pn 500205-071).  Did not boot.  The 8200 uses the same speed for its non-ECC RAM.

Same thing in an Optiplex 9020.

Really hoped it would work for a FreeNAS test project.

Martin: How'd it work for you?  What part number were your DIMMs?  Thank you

Btw. password recovery on this website is ABYSMAL... Generally hardly usable on a phone.

All the info I have is on the memtest picture, refer to first and third slot module info on the bottom.

These are non-registered ECC and looking very much like normal DDR3 (as opposed to those registered ones with weirdly aligned memory chips)
