I have an HP Compaq Elite 8300 SFF, core i7 3770 with the following problem.
For some reason, the computer only starts / accepts 02 GB of RAM (1 stick).
It could be two 01 GB sticks in slots 01 and 03 or one 02 GB stick in slot 01. I can't test slots 02 and 04!
In addition, even if the computer turns on with 2 GB, it may not display a screen, spin the processor fan to its limit and not show any error signal (beep or LED light). I fix this by removing a stick from the slot so that the BIOS identifies that there was a "change" in size. After that, I turn off the PC and connect the stick that I removed and the PC (usually) starts
Until before the error, the 2 computers had four 2 GB sticks each.
I could get to install SSD and make some updates on the OS (Windows 11). But after i reboot to set up thing, gets the same problem again.
I've done this so far:
* Cleaned the slots
* Use another compatible power supply
* Test with other RAM sticks of different frequencies, latency, size in GB, etc.
* Test with other compatible processors (a 3rd generation i3 and a 2nd generation i5. The original is an i5 3570)
* Update the BIOS: the latest version available on the website didn't work, but I updated it from version "K01 v02.05" to "K01 v02.90"
Any idea what might be happening?
