Dear friend,
My name is Theodor, and i am writing from Greece. I am writing this message to
ask you two questions about an article you wrote concerning the upgrade of an
HP Compaq dc7900 Ultra-slim Desktop, with a PCIe x16 riser video card. My first question
is you did you connect the riser card with the computer? You used the usb port in the back of the
computer?, because the motherbord doesn't have a PCIe slot. And the second question is
what type of PSU did you use in order to power up the graphic card. We are talking about
the computer in the following image?
Best wishes and regards

You are probably referring to this discussion thread: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-Compaq-dc7900-Ultra-slim-Des..., or, come to think of it, this discussion thread: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Upgrade-HP-Compaq-Dc7900-Ultra-....
Especially in the second link I explained -see pictures, how you can connect your HP Compaq dc7900 USDT to an external graphics card: you have to use your motherboard's WLAN-slot and plug in a Mini PCIe PCI-E PCI Express Riser Card to PCIe card, as seen in this AliExpress link: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251832765025869.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.5.6ff31802...:
Even though the WLAN slot is x1 speed only, a graphics card will still function quite well, though.
I used an external 24-pin ATX power supply (in addition to your stock power supply) in order to power (PCIe power cable) the graphics card.
Connect the SATA 15-pin power cable to your ATX power supply, and the 6-pin power slot to the riser card, and you are in business.
Note: in order to get your ATX power supply to provide power, you may need a 24-pin ATX power supply jumper such as seen here: https://www.amazon.com/SDTC-Tech-Starter-Without-Motherboard/dp/B07X9SVB5K/ref=sr_1_2?dib=eyJ2IjoiMS....
