What does windows say about the processor model?

There is no model number of the processor in your screen shot.

There are Pentium D 925, 930...both are 3 GHz.  The 925 is supported, but the 930 isn't.

Below is the link to the quickspecs for your model PC.

The supported processors are listed on page 8.

Hi:

There is a microcode update file for your PC at the link below...

http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=3249676&swItemId=vc_90213_1&swEnvOid=2103...

ENHANCEMENTS:
- Updates the Intel Processor microcode for processors having CPU IDs 6F6, 6F2,
6FD, 10676, and 1067A.

Thanks for the reply, however:

That is update 1.06, that comes with bios update 2.09, so i already have it installed

I need "F62" CPU ID, not "6F2", i assume you thought i made a typo.

Thanks in advance for any advise!

(Sorry if my wording seems rude, i am trying to clerify that it is indeed "F62")

Are you sure the microcode update is the same?

Normally they are not the same as microcode update in the BIOS file, and they add support for different processors.

I have done microcode updates on at least half a dozen different dcxxxx models and they have always been different.

What processor are you trying to install anyway?

I'll tell you if you are wasting your time or not by trying to get it to work.

In any event, the microcode update from the dc7600 is not going to work.  Different BIOS family.

Info from BIOS -> System Information

Intel Pentium D CPU 3.00Ghz

Processer Stepping 00000F62

Bios version 786E2 v02.09

Just tried the bios flash anyway, can confirm they are the same..

Ill attach some picture in one moment

EDIT:

I did reflash the firmware aswell, after a reboot it is still the same

Thanks for the reply.

I will check the processor now, it was one that was taken out of an old windows xp media center.

I do not have windows installed, using slackware Linux, i have a spare hardrive about if i HAVE to install windows.

EDIT:

It is indeed a 930 (as marked on the processor), So i guess no dice and shop around for a 925?

How much damage/issues would i have if i ignored this warning? (im planning to run slackware headless, so having to plug in a keyboard to press F1 would mean i cant really ignore it, but as we are on the subject, i thought i might ask)
