I am trying to install an mSATA SSD into my HP DC7800 USFF tower which I use as a Plex Server. I wana use the mSATA SSD as a boot drive, and put a larger HDD on the SATA bus to increase speed as my storage drive currently is running on the USB 2.0 bus

The nuts on the board, I can't get them off, they look glued down. Do I remove the nuts, or put a screw into them. I don't see threds in the center hole so I doubt a screw goes in. Pic related.

Hi,

There is NO Expansion slot on the USSF. That slot is connected to nowhere. Even you can remove the screw, mSATA SSD won't work with that slot, it is more suitable for w wireless card.

Why is it there if it's useless?

Hi,

That why they glued it. As mentioned above, it is suitbale for a wireless card.

Well since It's a server, I won't be using wireless.

It's a mini PCIe slot...did HP just lock it out? I have Bios 1.13 installed which I installed when I did the CPU upgrade (because the fans just went nuts when I upgraded to a 3.33 GHZ Core 2 Duo CPU). I know it's a pipe dream, but it'd be nice of HP unlocked the BIOS to accept a Core 2 Quad, but thats just me.

Well thanks anyway.

Sorry to necro this thread but, how about a PCIe to USB3 adapter? Could that be used in that slot instead of a wireless card?
