HP Desktop M01-F1024
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Just purchased this desktop from Best Buy and noticed that the PCIe transfer mode is set to 2x rather than 4x which is what the NVMe drive is rated for. I have tried the 256GB drive which came in this PC and another 1GB drive in my laptop and both perform at 4x speed as they are both NVMe Gen 3 x 4x drives but in this PC, both run at 2x.

The bios being so locked down doesn't allow me to change settings that might cure this. I installed a new bios today (from HP) and still operating at 2x.

Is this something that be fixed? I have tried everything I can think of in the operating system, like power settings to no avail.

Surely, the hardware in this PC supports the faster transfer protocol.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I realize that the drive in this desktop is the latest technology.

My question is why this desktop can't run this latest technology at it's rated speed.

Here is the current PCIe buss setting for this drive. PCIe 3.0 x2.   The drive is cable of running at PCIe 3.0 x4. So, essentially, the drive is only running at 1/2 of the speed that it is capable of because the PCIe buss is only letting it run at 2x speed.

Is this something that HP can fix (with a bios setting possibly) or do I need to return this computer to Best Buy for a refund?

Thanks.
