HP Desktop M01-F3214

I've previously posted asking for help upgrading a free desktop a family member gave me - here. I have since upgraded PSU, RAM, and GPU (RX 6650) and have been able to play most older titles catching up to speed over the past decade.

I tried to play The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and got a warning that my 4 core CPU couldn't handle it.

From HP's website it appears the M01-F3214 desktop has an Erica9 motherboard (spec website here).

My question is: considering I have a dedicated graphics card, am I still only limited to integrated CPUs? I'm not entirely well versed in computers but I would think I would get more value from a regular CPU than an integrated one. It feels like part of it will be wasted?  Considering the website states "Erica8 motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:" --- does this mean these are the only supported processor upgrades? Or as long as the socket type is the same and TDP isn't exceeded will I be ok?

The parts list for your PC indicates that it comes with a HP 'Erica9' motherboard.

Below is the link to the Erica9 motherboard specs:

Those are the only processors you can install that are listed under the processor upgrade info link.

@DirtTrackZac,

As I was heavily involved in your earlier query as mentioned, your PC is fitted with a Ryzen 3 5300G (4-Cores, 8-Threads, 4.00 GHz up to 4.20 GHz, 65-watt TDP).

I would strongly recommend upgrading your processor to a Ryzen 7 5700G (8-Cores, 16-Threads, 3.80 GHZ up to 4.60 GHz, 65-watt TDP).  You can purchase one of these Ryzen 7 5700G starting around $125, such as this purchase option via a trusted US eBay Seller: https://www.ebay.com/itm/304796994462?_skw=Ryzen+7+5700G&epid=23046151179&itmmeta=01JVT648FJ8FMET1YZ....

In my opinion, given the pricing and overall processing benefits, this would be a worthwhile expenditure/investment.

Kind Regards,
