Critical update needed to use HP Display Control keeps reappearing every time I reboot my computer even after downloading the Update.

The issue of the critical update for HP Display Control reappearing after every reboot can be frustrating. 

 

Here are some steps to resolve it:

 

Step 1: Uninstall and Reinstall HP Display Control

  1. Open Control Panel and go to Programs > Programs and Features.
  2. Locate HP Display Control in the list, select it, and click Uninstall.
  3. Restart your computer.
  4. Download the latest version of HP Display Control from the HP Support page for your model.
  5. Install the software and check if the issue persists.

Step 2: Clear Temporary Files

  1. Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Type temp and press Enter. Delete all files in the folder.
  3. Repeat the process with %temp% and prefetch.
  4. Restart your computer and try updating again.

Step 3: Disable Automatic Updates for HP Software

  1. Open the HP Support Assistant.
  2. Go to Settings > Software Updates.
  3. Disable automatic updates for HP Display Control to prevent repeated prompts.

Step 4: Check for Windows Update Conflicts

  1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  2. Check for pending updates and install them.
  3. Restart your computer and see if the issue is resolved.

Step 5: Manually Install the Update

  1. Download the update file directly from the HP Support page.
  2. Run the installer as an administrator by right-clicking the file and selecting Run as Administrator.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
