Having issues with WFH set up, using HP 24 R0xx AIO (HDMI in and out), HP E24D docking monitor and HP laptop.
Until now have had a laptop / AIO dual screen with HDMI cable, no issues.
Have added the E24D docking monitor and have dual screen AIO HDMI out to E24D in which works fine. Also Laptop USB-C to E24D is ok but I should be able to add the AIO as a 3rd screen with the E24D Display Port out to AIO HDMI in. I have an ALOGIC smartconnect DP to HDMI cable but it doesn't seem to work.
Any ideas?

Hi @alled,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Troubleshooting your work-from-home setup with the HP 24 R0xx All-in-One (AIO), HP E24D docking monitor, and an HP laptop can involve several steps to diagnose where the issue lies, especially with connecting the AIO as a third screen using a DisplayPort (DP) to HDMI cable. Here are some potential solutions and checks to consider:
1. Verify Cable Compatibility
- Active vs. Passive Adapters/Cables: Ensure that the ALOGIC SmartConnect DP to HDMI cable you're using is compatible with your setup. Sometimes, an active adapter is required to convert the signal from DP to HDMI, especially if the source or destination device has specific requirements. Check if your setup might require an active adapter instead of a passive one.
2. Check Display Settings
- Extended Display Settings: On your laptop, ensure that the display settings are configured to extend the display to the third monitor (AIO) rather than duplicating it or not recognizing it. You can access these settings by right-clicking on the desktop and selecting "Display settings."
- Correct Input Selection on AIO: Make sure the AIO is set to the correct input source. There might be a button on the AIO or an on-screen menu that allows you to switch between input sources (e.g., HDMI In).
3. Update Drivers and Firmware
- Laptop and Docking Monitor Drivers: Check for any available updates for your laptop’s graphics drivers and the E24D docking monitor's firmware. Outdated drivers or firmware can sometimes cause compatibility issues with extended display setups.
- HP AIO Firmware: Also, check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP AIO. Updates can resolve various connectivity and compatibility issues.
4. Test with Different Devices
- Cable Testing: If possible, test the ALOGIC SmartConnect DP to HDMI cable with different devices to ensure the cable itself is not faulty. This could involve connecting another laptop or a different monitor to see if the issue persists.
- Alternative Connection Methods: If you have another DP to HDMI adapter or cable, try using that to determine if the issue is with the cable.
5. Power Cycling Devices
- Restart Devices: Sometimes, simply restarting all devices involved in the setup can resolve detection issues. Turn off your laptop, the docking monitor, and the AIO. After a few moments, turn them back on, starting with the AIO, then the docking monitor, and finally the laptop.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
