HP ENVY 34 inch All-in-One Desktop PC 34-c1000 (4G584AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi all

I have a 34" all in one and would love to put two lots of 32Gb matched RAM (64Gb) in, I have Corsair DDR5 4800MHz so all up 4 sticks of 16Gb when you start the PC up with this RAM it errors out saying not genuine HP RAM (something like that) then shutdowns the PC.  When I was researching for a new PC the HP website advised that quality RAM would work, so thinking this and looking at the HP accessories page for RAM I went with the Corsair RAM as it was only $700 for 64Gb instead of $900+.  So, the question is would there be a way to get the RAM to work changing a setting in the BIOS or updating it or am I stuck with $700 paper weights.

Thank you in advance and yes, I know that is a lot of RAM when you are working on photos and scientific equations the more RAM the better..

Not sure why this was changed to Solved when it was not.  Anyway thought I would finish with my findings that hopefully will help others.

Short is I have model c1001aPC which came with 2x8GB Samsung DDR5-4800 installed which ran at 4000.

Purchased this Envy with the intent to upgrade beyond 16GB for my situation.

Tried similar DDR5-4800 SODIMM memory (Crucial 2x32GB CT32G48C40S5 and also Corsair 2x32GB CMSX64GX5M2A4800C40) which fired up at 3600 but later failed HP test with Unsupported Memory.

Now HP has memory but is extremely hard to get (told not available) and costs 5 times.

Unfortunately, support with HP did not progress and their support/product documentation is very inaccurate.

What does work is 2x32GB Samsung DDR5-4800 (M425R4GA3BB0-CQKOL) which for 64GB will run at 3600 with a latency of 16.67ns (2x32GB at 3600 with CAS of 30).  This is about the same latency of 16ns for the originally installed memory (2x8GB at 4000 with CAS of 32).

If you want to upgrade your memory then Samsung DDR5-4800 worked for me, and hopefully you.

Very hard to get Samsung SODIMM as they have been snapped up by manufacturers due to previous supply issues.

I got mine from The US, Amazon.

I also have HP Envy 34-c1001a and wish to upgrade to 2x32GB.   Support documentation mentions Four DDR4 SODIMM sockets however this AIO has DDR5 SODIMM sockets.  Have tried Crucial 2x32GB  CT32G48C40S5 and also Corsair 2x32GB  CMSX64GX5M2A4800C40, both fire up at 3600 but later "Unsupported Memory".  These are DDR5-4800 with specs just like the existing 2x8GB Samsung DDR5-4800 installed.  How do we get Crucial to work?

Hi ColinR66

Thank you for all the information you have provided I'll try this when I get back to work, Ok have ordered from Amazon now lets see if your research works and the Sam Original 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 4800MHz PC5-38400 SODIMM 2Rx8 CL40 1.1v Laptop Notebook RAM Memory Module Upgrade M425R4GA3BB0-CQK works as it will be a long way to send back to the US from Australia to get a refund..

Hi Grumpy48,  glad to help.   Don't add the new memory to the existing (assuming 2x8GB) as the four SODIMMs combined will run really slowly at 2000.  Remove old and install new, just run 64GB.  You can return memory to Amazon if it does not work (within 30 days I think).  Just keep the original packing.  Let me know how it plays out for you.

For Grumpy48, in case you want to go for 128GB, just letting you know it works for me.  I now have 128GB (4x32GB Samsung DDR5-4800) running at 3200 with a CAS of 26 for 16.25ns latency.  For what I do system is now stable.  Running at 16GB was a train wreck.  Good luck.

I think the other half would shout me if I spent more money on another lot of 64Gb RAM
