Hello & Happy New year to All,
I have a HP ENVY 700-010XT and a GeForce GTX 1060 video card. No problems installing it but this video card requires power to be supplied though a PCI-e 6pin power input. There are no 6pin power plug inside computer. (image of 6pin pci-e plug I seek: https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/attachments/pcie6-2-jpg.57637/ ). Is there a way to tap, or convert from the power calbes that exist in the computer into a 6pin pci-e plug ?
Many thans,
Octto

Now I am puzzled. The GT640 is a April 2012 release, and is BIOS (Legacy).
What I want you to do is run this program to verify it's either BIOS or UEFI. I am still pondering the WIN 7 you stated, versus the WIN 8 listed on the support page.
If its' verified as UEFI, then get Corsair CX600. It is an exact fit, correct cables.

Your inquiry is an excellent example of a quandry. Lack of information.
Here are the various specs your computer had available. In these specs you will note different power supplies (PSU), and various optional graphic cards (GPU). Some of those cards do require a 6 pin PCIE power plug. In your entry description, you mentioned WIN 7. That unit was issued with WIN 8. (WIN 8 has UEFIvBIOS, which is compatible with the GTX1060 , as the GTX1060 is also UEFI). That said, you should answer the following.
1) What PSU is in that unit? You need a 600W PSU to run the GTX1060. Although the GTX1060 is rated for a 400W PSU, it draws 120W. The typical PSU used in the HP builds do not sustain full power loads.
2) Did you have a previous GPU installed? If so, what card? In the list, the GTX660 is a 6 pin powered card, rated at 140W, and listed for a 450W PSU.
3) If you have the 600W PSU, then an adapter should work. If not, get a Corsair CX600 PSU.

Hello wb2001,
Thank you for your very quick reply.
My ENVY 700 has a 300W PSU uATX PSU 😞
I am willing to purchase a 600W PSU unit if it required for the GTX 1060.
Will the Corsair CX600 PSU be able to connect and power the devices the HP 700 originally came with ?
My ENVY 700 was originally purchased with a GeForce GT 640 installed video card.
The GTX 1060 was a generous gift and I don't mind spending $$ to make it work.
Thank you,
Octto

@wb2001
Thank you for your patience.
I appreciate the time you have taken to help me out.
Regarding the program to verify it's either BIOS or UEFI:
a) there was not a setupact.log file
b) using msinfo32, it stated:
