I would like to upgrade the Intel processor in my HP ENVY 700-210xt to an eighth generation i7. It currently has a core i7-4770 (Haswell) 3.4 GHz. The motherboard is a Pegatron IPM87-MP (HP name: Memphis-B). I am wondering which Intel processor upgrades are compatible with this computer. Would other items such as power supply and/or heatsinks, OS (currently Win 8.1) etc. be required/upgraded as well? Thank you.

The following processor is the only one that has higher specs and is comptatible with your motherboard.
Intel Core i7-4790 (Haswell) 3.6 GHz Quad Core and it is a 4th Generation socket 1150
Upgrading to an 8th genereration processor on your motherboard is not possible.
8th Gen processors are socket 1151 processors and will not physically fit in the socket 1150 on your motherboard.

Greetings DMH1000,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not an HP employee.
You can upgrade the processor to an i7-4790.
Please see this site for a comparison of your current processor to an i7-4790.
The user benchmarks are really close. You would have to decide if spending the additional money is worth the minimal performance improvements gained.
No other upgrades would be needed to install the 4790 in your MB.
Regards
