The Hard drive on my main desktop was going bad, so I bought a 256GB SSD, and a 4TB HD. I am needing to know how to copy my old hard drive to the new one, and how to install the OS to the SSD drive.

Hello
you have several possibilities, but some will probably not be possible, the small size of the SSD is taken into account
There is software, which allows you to copy the system disk (old HDD) to install it as the new SSD.
But since the SSD is very small, you may not be able to.
So you would have to install windows directly
the simplest (if we can say so), if you have installed windows 10, you just have to create the microsoft media directly, and once the SSD is in place, install windows ..

Once this is done, you install the HDD hard drive, format it to be able to use it (create the desired number of partitions)
If you have an available sata port (data and power supply), and your hard drive can still work, connect the
You can copy paste the desired documents, or use software to help you
no particular example to give, see what would suit you best,
