HP ENVY Recline 23-k210na TouchSmart All-in-One Desktop PC (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 11

HP ENVY Recline 23-k210np TouchSmart All-in-One Desktop PC HDMI input button not working.

I'm trying to use 23-k210np TouchSmart as a second monitor and I'm using HDMI cable in both ends (ENVY 23 to Laptop) and the moment I press the button nothing happens and no even a message comes up, is like the button is not connected at all anywhere.

I upgraded my win 10 to win 11 thinking this is going to work but still the same problem.

I looked as much I think online but nothing is clear if is solvable or not.

Anyone form HP tech guys have any solution please?

Many thanks.

Hi @HowToTrade,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the HDMI input button on your HP ENVY Recline 23-k210np TouchSmart All-in-One Desktop PC is not working, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Check the physical connections: Ensure that the HDMI cable is securely connected to both the PC and the external device (e.g., monitor, TV, etc.) you're trying to connect. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the cable to make sure it's properly seated.
  • Test with a different HDMI cable: Sometimes, the HDMI cable itself can be faulty. Try using a different HDMI cable to see if the issue is resolved.
  • Restart the PC and external device: Restart both your PC and the external device you're connecting to (e.g., monitor, TV) and check if the HDMI input button starts working.
  • Update graphics drivers: Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can sometimes cause issues with HDMI connectivity. Visit the official HP support website and download the latest graphics drivers for your PC. Install them and see if it resolves the problem.
  • Check HDMI input settings: Press the Windows key + P on your keyboard to open the "Project" menu. Make sure the appropriate display option is selected, such as "Duplicate" or "Extend," depending on your preference. This will help ensure that the HDMI input is recognized and utilized correctly.
  • Try a different HDMI port: If your PC has multiple HDMI ports, try connecting the HDMI cable to a different port and see if that resolves the issue.
  • Test on a different external device: If possible, connect your PC to a different external device, such as another monitor or TV, to determine if the problem lies with the PC or the original external device.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Dear Alden4,

Thank you for your prompt response; I truly appreciate it.

What I have discovered is that when I press the 'HDMI in' button, I expect to see some information on the screen indicating 'No signal detected' before connecting anything. However, when I press the 'HDMI in' button located at the bottom left of the screen on my '23-k210np,' it does not display any signal at all, it acts like a dead button:-).

I have followed all the instructions provided.

I tested the HDMI cable with a different monitor, and it worked perfectly. I even reinstalled Windows 11 in the hope of resolving the issue, but still, there is no display.

So, what should be my next course of action?

Thank you once again for your assistance.

Kind regards,
