Where are the m.2 expansion slots on the Reno HP motherboard for above computer. I would like to add a 2nd SSD card so that I can dual boot between Win 11 and/or Linux and keep the operating systems on separate SSD drives. Alternatively, has anyone used a PCI SSD card successfully and if so, which one. I would like at least 256GB or 512GB.
Thanks.

I've had a thread about this same issue before.
This will be the same for most computers
on one side you have the characteristics of a motherboard, and available ports
then you have the computer configuration
If a pci 16x port is announced, and then there is a graphics card installed, then the pci port is already occupied, otherwise, you will see that there are two pci 16 x ports
I gave the example of this motherboard
motherboard specifications, Tampa2
see
Two PCI Express x16 physical slots (Gen 3.0), each slot with x8 bus lane
memory to
Four DDR4 UDIMM (288-pin) sockets
there may already be two memory slots occupied

hi
https://support.hp.com/za-en/document/c08165944
Internal Storage | 1 TB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD |
One M.2 socket 3, Key M, (2280/2242)
there is only one m2 SSD slot already occupied so by what is mentioned here
for the pci card, it is often a failure, if the SSD can work sometimes, it will not be possible to boot on it
May be possible to add a sata SSD

Thanks for the quick response. Your answer is what I was 'afraid' of. I feel that the 'specs' of 2 m.2 slots and 2 PCI slots EASILY leads one to believe OTHERWISE which is where my question came from. While I will not say it is 'illegal' or 'improper', I do feel that there product specs is absolutely MISLEADING - which, since I bought my system used - I am 'ok' with - HOWEVER- IF I HAD BOUGHT NEW - I would be returning.
Will probably be a real "PITA' to HP SALES before I buy another HP product.
WARNING to all: BEFORE YOU BUY A HP PRODUCT - DOUBLE CHECK the specs with the sales reps and ENSURE that it is what you are wanting!
