HP EliteDesk 800 G3 SFF PC
Linux

I just bought this pc used for 100 bucks. I intend to use it as a proxmox server. My main goal is to use this to host a few VMs in a homelab that I am putting together. It only has 150 watt power supply. I plan to purchase a nividia tesla P4 card to use in this machine. Will that be enough for what I want to do?

@Abigbyrd,

Welcome to our peer-to-peer HP Community Forum!

Your HP EliteDesk 800 G3 SFF is fitted with a stock 180-watt power supply (p/n: 913149-001 or: 913150-001).

However, a Nvidia Tesla P4 (75-watt TDP) requires at least a 250-watt power supply (see: NVIDIA Tesla P4 Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database). This card should fit inside your desktop:

A compatible 250-watt power supply for an HP EliteDesk 800 G3/G4/G5 SFF has part number: L08417-004, and can be bought online, such as this eBay purchase example: HP Elitedesk 800 G4 TWR 250W Power Supply PCH022 L08417-004 | eBay.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

@Abigbyrd,

Btw, you should consider the Nvidia Tesla T4 (see: NVIDIA Tesla T4 Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database), which has a 70-watt TDP, and also requires a 250-watt minimum power supply:
