Microsoft Windows 11

Hi everybody,

I have bought recently a second hand HP EliteDesk 800 G5 SFF, I am happy with it but the SD card reader option was not there, Reading the HP Maintenance and Service guide it shows we can add one or change it if out of order. So I decided to buy one SD card reader part suitable for my desktop, after opening the the front bezel, I was happy to see the SD card reader socket on the mother board but there is no CUT OUT on the front chassis to accomodate the card reader. Has anybody faced this situation,  is there any recommandation from HP to carry out this cut out. Thanks in advance for your help

Kind regards

Alain

Interesting, because I have yet to see an HP EliteDesk 800 G5 SFF with a missing SD card reader cut-out:

Hi NonSequitur777

Thanks for your reply, I have made further investigation and find out that the cut out was precut on the chassis, after proper power shutdown and removal of the power cord, with a flat scew driver I was able to bend the plate and after 2 movements the small plate want out and now I can insert the new internal SD card reader. Here are the pictures :

So the problem is solved, thanks to HP for the precut otherwise it would have required the use of cut pliers

Kind regards
