I own an HP EliteDesk 800 G1 system unit.
It currently has a Pentium G3220 processor, just like when I bought it.
The system unit has a Merlin Rev. A on the Q87 chipset with an 1150 socket.
I would like to replace it with a more powerful Xeon E3 12X5 V3 processor since the Core i7 47XX is still expensive even in the aftermarket.
Does this motherboard support Xeon E3 12X5 V3 processors in the BIOS\UEFI? Will it be able to run there?
Thank you.

Bios version 2.3 added support for those Xeon CPUs
Version: 2.30 Rev.A
Fixed in this release: - Updated graphics Firmware
- Updated PXE ROM to fix some network compatibility issues
- Added fixes for Remote Manageability
- Added Intel Reference code updates for chipset, memory and CPU tosupport introduction of Haswell Refresh Processors
Haswell Xeon list is here
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/codename/42174/products-formerly-haswell.html
Do not get any CPUs marked "ES" as they are engineering samples. Get from a reputable seller that offers returns.
I assume you have a GPU for video as Xeons normally do not have video built in. Upgrade bios 2.3 or later before installing the xeon.

Thank you for your quick response.
I have the latest BIOS version 2.71 installed.
Version 2.30 does mention a microcode update for Haswell processors, but is it specific to Xeon processors?
There is a whole line of Haswell CPUs: Celeron, Pentium, Core and Xeon.
Have you personally or someone you know installed an Xeon processor on this motherboard? Did it work with it?
The current Pentium G3220 installed has integrated video, which is why I wanted to replace it with an Xeon with integrated video as well. I don't play games or use applications that require a powerful graphics subsystem so the built-in graphics are fine for me.
Sorry if my English is not that good. )
Thank you.

Here is a better list of Haswell CPUs that show video capability
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Xeon_processors_(Haswell-based)
I do not have your motherboard. I have upgraded CPUs in other motherboards to Haswell Xeon.
The parts list for "EliteDesk 800 G1 tower" shows (for example) 8 motherboards "PC Board"
https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer/?searchtext=E0C73UP&searchby=product
Look on your motherboard and lsee If the intel chipset is h81 or b85. Based on my experience with H81-btc and tb85-btc then you can upgrade to any Haswell Xeon that supports video.
I upgraded the following motherboards to xeon:
h81-btc (intel h81 chipset) to e3-1265L (haswell v3 and has video)
tb85-btc (intel b85 chipset) to e3-1230v3 (haswell but no video)

In the first post I pointed out that my ElliteDesk 800 G1 has a Merlin Rev.A motherboard on the Q87 chipset, socket 1150.
The CPU-Z program detects this board as HP 18E4.
I unfortunately couldn't find this motherboard model on the HP website to see its specs and support for processors.
The fact that you managed to run Xeon processors on H61 and B85 chipsets is good news, but I wanted to be more assured that it would run on my Q87 chipset. I wanted to buy an Xeon processor far away and there could be big problems with returns if it doesn't work.
Thank you so much for helping with my question.
It would be even more wonderful if HP technical support had a say in the matter. )
Thank You!
