I am looking into possibly upgrading to a dedicated graphics card in this desktop, however, the only extra connector I see off the power supply is a 6 pin. Are we able to install a graphics card on this system?

@XFastZ28X , welcome to the forum.

Yes, there is a PCI Express x16 slot on the motherboard for a video card.  However, you will only be able to install a card that doesn't require additional supplemental power connectors or one that requires the 6-pin power connector.  Otherwise, you would have to upgrade the power supply unit (PSU), also.  This is difficult because the motherboard only has a proprietary 4-pin main power connector.

Has anyone tried to upgrade the PSU yet? I'm guessing to get the graphics card, I'd need to upgrade the MB and PSU. Ha! Good ol' HP!

Thank you for the additional information, @XFastZ28X .

HP makes many computers that are very upgradeable, such as, the Omen models.  Yours just happens not to be one of those that is easy to upgrade.

Here is a small, but powerful, video card that requires 400W and a 1 x  6-pin supplemental power connector.  I have recommended it to several members of the Community without any complaints.  You can read the "Specifications" tab and the Customer Reviews to see what owners have to say about it.  You could take a look at the EVGA GTX 1050's.  Some of them only require 300W and no supplemental power.

I opened the case again and changed the RAM. I noticed a little 2 pin connector attached to the 6 pin connector and it combines to make an 8 pin. I'm guessing I can run a different card with the 8 pin combo but would it actually be powerful enough? I only have 1 SSD connected buy 2 installed and no spinning drive attached. Think I could possibly get by with a Radeon RX 580 or something similar? 🙂53423658_326575524660430_4737139053911080960_n.jpg54230678_381972889049768_2293350156235440128_n.jpg

@XFastZ28X, you are correct that it is an 8-pin PCIe connector.  Whichever, video card that you decide to buy, it has to run with the 400W PSU.  I looked at one RX 580 and it required a 500W PSU.
