Hello everyone,

I have a HP G4 705 SFF Ryzen 3 2200g since a moment. I bought it for a "mouthful of bread".
So,
I'd like to upgrade it.
BIOS Q16 (last update) RavenPI-FP5-AM4 1.0.1.0.f or something like that, i'm not on this system at the accurate moment.

According to my research, it's dead for R7 PRO 2700 dans R5 PRO 2600.
R5 PRO 2400G seems to be ok but it's not a big upgrade.
I would be interested in the R5 PRO 2400GE, little best performance and above all, lower consumption.
I would like to know if this CPU is compatible with my BIOS version ?

Thank you

Hi:

Below is the link to the HP specs for the model series.

HP EliteDesk 705 G4 Desktop Business PC

The AMD Ryzen GE processors are only supported in the desktop mini form factors.

When you can use your PC again you can see if it will support the AMD Ryzen™ 7 PRO 2700X, AMD Ryzen™ 7 PRO 2700 or the AMD Ryzen™ 5 PRO 2600 by checking the motherboard SSID your PC comes with.

It will if it has the 8460 motherboard SSID which is the only one these processors will work with.

You can find your PC motherboard's SSID by:

In the search feature on the Windows taskbar:

Type: System Information

Run the app and look for the Baseboard Product line about 1/3 of the way down on the report.

The baseboard product info is the same as the motherboard SSID.

I don't see where any one at the link below tried a 'GE" processor in the SFF.

Hi,
Thanks you for these precious informations.
In the bios and Linux (fedora), it's appear my hp have a 83E8 motherboard.
I was right in my first post, no R7 2700 or R5 2600 supported.

I have seen the pdf quickspecs mouth ago, but in reality, my g4 705 sff doesn't support most of the cpu listed.

It's why i ask here, the information hp provide is unclear regarding to the different materials.

I repeat my question with the additional info provided (Motherboard 83E8), i know it doesn't appear on the quickspecs but ; if the R5 PRO 2400GE is supported ? Anyone trying ? Because it's the same architecture as the R5 PRO 2400G

Thanks again.

You're very welcome.

Given the fact that no one on this forum and no place I have searched indicates anyone installed the R5 PRO 2400GE processor in that model series, you are probably going to have to experiment and hope it works if that's what you want to do.
