Brand new DVD player attached to a brand new HP PC.  Using updated VLC media player.  The DVD player iappears to be recognized by the PC and I can hear the DVD movement but am unable to get it to play.

In order to get VLC to play the DVD, (with the Disk in the drive)open VLC.  Then open the Media tab, then pick open disc from the selctions.  Select the drive letter the DVD player is called in "This PC".  Then pick whether it is a DVD or Blu-Ray.  Then click on "Play".

It should begin.  If this is not what happens, please indicate with a screen shot where and step that procedure did not work.
