I have several different HP omen motherboards but they are all b550 with the Hana model. I want to know if I can put older chips in it such as an R7 2700x or if not would I need a bios update to do that.

Greetings @Van777vh

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Hana MB CPU support can be reviewed Here. The 2700X is not supported in your MB.

Your MB may be limited to Ryzen 5000 series support. It is rare to see HP add CPU support on consumer PCs.

Aftermarket B550 MBs will generally support CPUs back to the Ryzen 3000 series.

2700X support on any B550 MB is probably not going to happen.

Thankyou so much for responding back would their be a chance that HP would have some bios update that would allow new to upgrade the processor to a newer 5000 series that is not on the list such as as Ryzen 5 5500?

Greetings  @Van777vh

My pleasure.

Successfully running a CPU not listed at the PC's MB support site is very sketchy. There is no way to know if an unsupported CPU will be seen by the BIOS.

I would need specific product numbers such as Gt12-1234x to check for any recent BIOS updates. Or you could use the PC's product number or, better yet, the serial number to check for drivers at this HP Site.

This HP Site can assist in identifying your PC's: serial number or product number.

I have never seen HP add CPU support for a consumer PC in a BIOS update. It may have happened. But I have not witnessed this event.

Business PCs do get additional CPU support.

The Hana MB can do an AMD 5600G CPU. It's similar to the 5500 but sadly, more expensive.

Regards
