HP All-in-One - 22-b226
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My camera said not connected to computer (Code 45), and was grayed out, when I check its status in device manager. This was after my camera app said camera not found and after endless unsuccessful troubleshooting.   I uninstalled with the intent to reinstall. Only to find that there's absolutely no way to get the driver; the camera is not even showing in Device Manager anymore (bf it was showing under show hidden devices)

HP site driver list based on my HP product didn't have HP integrated webcam driver (it had a dvd player driver though ~side eye~). I also tried the Recovery Utility and that too had many drivers, none of which is the webcam.  I've done a lot of google searches, I can't find HP-sourced download (found many third-party drivers, but who's crazy enough to download those).

What's secondarily frustrating is that in troubleshooting with HP, you are sent to their site to download the driver, but they don't even tell you which driver to download, especially since most are technical sounding drivers. It tells me that after the MS Windows 10 update fiasco, HP didn't bother supporting webcams

Someone please help me. How do I get an orignal webcam driver and just as importantly get my webcam working, especially in this day of social distancing.

I'm seriously furious at HP. A very vital part of their products gets gutted and they leave consumers to clean up after Microsoft.

@Nonnymaus , welcome to the forum.

I hear your frustration!

You said that you uninstalled the webcam in the Device Manager.  Did you reboot the computer after it was uninstalled?  Normally, the webcams don't require a driver, except those that are furnished by Win 10.  You may have software that works with it, but not a driver.  They are plug and play.

Did you run Windows Update and HP Update from HP Support Assistant?

Here is a guide that may help you:  https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Knowledge-Base/My-WebCam-does-not-seem-to-work-What-can-I-do...
