HP Omen 880-120 Gaming Desktop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there,

I recently bought an additional hard drive for my computer.  I tried to install through OMEN external hard drive slot, but it did not work.

Every time I install it, my existing hard drive "D" will disappear, I cannot even locate the hard drive through date management. Only drive "C" shows up.

 If I reboot the computer with an additional hard drive, the computer won't restart except showing the loading window.  After I removed the additional hard drive, the computer goes back to normal. It shows two existing two hard drives.

I did research on Youtube or HP website, there is not exactly an explanation about set up external hard drive. Could someone answer this question, please? Much appreciate.

@ztl76ers Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that the external hard drive is not detecting for your omen computer.

Do not worry. I will try to help you in this regard.

Please provide the product details of your external hard drive.

How it is connected to the computer?

Is it showing in the BIOS?

You may want to try the download here from Intel: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/22824/USB-3-0-Driver-Intel-USB-3-0-eXtensible-Host-Control...
