Hello there !

This topic is a follow up of the HP OMEN X 900-080nz upgrade part 1,2,3. 🙂

NonSequitur777 will be happy to know that I purchased the RTX 5070 DUAL OC from Asus and that I put it in the computer.

It was not the easiest task, because how the motherboard is built, the RTX 5070 don't fit in the first slot for GPU. (there is a tiny cable at the right that don't let you insert a GPU of this size. Hopefully the motherboard was built to support two GPU's then I inserted it in slot 2. Now the PC is working with this new beast in it. The PC has some space for a bit bigger GPU, but the motherboard is kinda the problem. Even in the second slot, it's okey, but it was close to have the same problem that in the slot 1 with the same cable. (thickness it the problem, not really the length)

I hope this informations will help somebody.

I was happy to see that I can play games that I couldn't even start (some specific games like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and that they play quite nicely.) And it seems DLSS can do some magic tricks too to not overload a old CPU like mine.

I still didn't touched other pieces of the machine (lack of money for the moment).

I found Intel Extreme Tuning Utility that works with the I7 6700K and was thinking to use it when I play a bigger game. I know that this CPU can easely be overclock around 4.6-4.7 GHZ. For the moment i'm trying to let it be at 4.5 GHZ it seems to have no problems. I'll try it in some games in the next days. I'm with my 1440P / 144Hertz screen right now. I don't know how to share with you some results here. But I'll try.

The gaming cube is alive again !

Best regards. 😄

@Myoubouh,

Yes, I am indeed very pleased to hear that you got your RTX 5070 to work in your amazing HP OMEN X 900-080nz!

Outstanding -thank you for following up!

If you don't mind, please benchmark it via Home - UserBenchmark and post the performance link.

Kind Regards,

Hello NonSequitur777.

Of course, no problem. I did it twice because the first time I had the G-Sync screen activated, and second time no. And the CPU charge was a bit high in the first try.

First result : HP OMEN X by HP Desktop PC 900-0XX Performance Results - UserBenchmark

And the second one : HP OMEN X by HP Desktop PC 900-0XX Performance Results - UserBenchmark

What do you think about it ? 🙂

Seems XTU don't want to let the CPU running at 4.5 GHZ for ever. When I shutdown the PC the CPU comes again at normal speed clock. Don't know if it's supposed to work like this, but I didn't noticed any problem in gaming (Tried already Cyberpunk 2077 and FFVII Rebirth for a moment). I did this two try and I let the NVIDIA app to configure the games like it wanted without touching anything for the moment. 🙂

Waiting to hear from you now. 😄

@Myoubouh,

The Userbenchmark scoring shows that your system is firing on all fours -so to speak: your Intel Core i7-6700K is not bottlenecked by the RTX 5070 and vice versa.  The results show a very nicely balanced gaming platform that should satisfy ultra settings in 1080P and likely at 2K (1440p) as well.

Kind Regards,

All fours ? But no bottleneck it's strange of what I know for this CPU/GPU combo, how is that enven possible ahah ? Cube magic ? xD And I changed nothing except the GPU. (And the additional Samsung SSD), and overclocked the CPU to 4.5 Ghz. Always people speak about bottleneck with the Rtx 5070 and old CPU's like mine. I'll keep to do some tries with other games if you have some in mind that I can have. I'm interested in learning more about my machine. ^^ I don't have the courage to go to 4.6 or 4.7 Ghz because I know that 4.5 you are sure to have no real other tweaks to do to make it work without problems. I never saw on youtube or other places real results with this CPU and GPU maybe would be nice to share for people who can't afford a new CPU and just want to play in good conditions !
