OMEN 30L Desktop PC GT13-1000a (207P7AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

HP Omen 30L, shut off randomly with  a snap sound. Delivered Feb 10, 2022. Worked great for seven months. Then the shutdowns started. Sent it in for repair FOUR (4!) times. Came back the last time Sep 20, 2023. Worked great again for almost five months. Shut down again Feb 15, 2024. Often shuts down once or twice a day.

One computer guy said "sounds like the system protecting itself with a quick shut-off of the power supply."

A lemon, right? What to do?

Hi @idbodbi

Welcome to the HP Forum.

You would have to troubleshot the PC or have a local PC tech do this if your PC is out of warranty.

I would run extensive diagnostics tests to see if the PC shuts down during the tests.

Check your PC's hardware as follows:

Start the PC. Repeatedly tap the "ESC" key.

Select "F2". Run system and component tests.

General Causes:

You could have a component problem or some type of power delivery problem which is causing the PC to randomly shut down. It could be an intermittent short or you could have a bad power supply among other possible faulty components or cabling.

An external USB port could be faulty. The power button could cause this problem.

It is sometimes easier and cost efficient to have a local PC find the problem because you may need replacement components to find the bad part.

Regards
