I have an HP Omen 35L with an AMD Ryzen 7 8700G cpu. I want to upgrade my cpu to an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Is this possible and will it function properly?

@Little-Ear,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Assuming your HP Omen 35L is fitted with the Wolant motherboard (SSID: 8CF4), I see no indications either from HP's Wolant specs or actual HP Omen 35L users (here and here) having succeeded with anything beyond either the Ryzen 7 8700G or the Ryzen 7 8700F.

So, most likely you can't upgrade your processor to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D in your system.

Kind Regards,

I am facing the same issue, R7 8700f with RTX5080, is it possible to upgrade the cup and motherboard at the same time, will it work?

@berber5566,

Well, for all intents and purposes, having a system with a Ryzen 7 8700F paired with an RTX 5080 is a powerful gaming PC, capable of high-performance 1440p and 4K gaming, especially in newer, demanding titles.

The RTX 5080 is a strong graphics card for 4K gaming, ray tracing, and path tracing, whilst the Ryzen 7 8700F is, what we gamers would classify as "a capable processor" -some users have noted a potential for a CPU bottleneck at 1440p or higher in certain competitive titles, depending on the specific game.

Look, I don't know if a different motherboard, say an Asus or MSI gaming motherboard would actually "fit" in your Omen.  HP has a tendency to design things "proprietarily", so that may mess up a simple non-HP motherboard refit...

Kind Regards,
