Hi, does the Omen 45L desktop support the usage of the Intel's i9 integrated graphic card for display applications? I would like to use the NVIDIA graphic-card for CUDA applications only (deep learning), and the Intel's integrated graphic card for display.
The reason is because otherwise it could lead to failures, as suggested from NVIDIA support (see below NVIDIA link, where it mentions "it is recommended that CUDA is run on a GPU that is NOT attached to a display").
https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-faq
Based on online search, seems like for the newer OMEN laptops with good NVIDIA cards, the integrated graphic card is disabled. I couldn't find anywhere if OMEN desktops have the same issue.

hi
On the vast majority of desktop computers, if a graphics card is installed, you cannot use the integrated display, so it is not possible to connect the monitor to the motherboard

Hi Prométhée,
Thanks a lot for your feedback! Seems like the option should still be possible for desktops in general, see below Intel's info as example:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000058190/graphics.html
What is causing this limitation in the HP Omen desktop? Is it the motherboard BIOS, or a software / hardware limitation? Would it be possible to over-write that in any way?

For everyone I've seen so far, it's only possible with certain professional computers.
the integrated option, is automatically disabled when a graphics card is inserted
We have this type of message, for I think all HP motherboards

Hi Prométhée,
Thanks again for your help! That's really interesting. I found some HP computers that allow mixing integrated / dedicated graphic cards, for example the one from the link below, though these may be the "professional computers" you were referring to:
http://h20331.www2.hp.com/Hpsub/downloads/Z210_QuadMonitor_Support_Graphics.pdf
I also found the HP Omen 45L motherboard (HP 8917 Micro ATX Z690), but I couldn't find anywhere if this motherboard supports the integrated graphic card. The Omen 30L support docs explicitly mentions it doesn't support the integrated card, but that motherboard (Hana) seems to be different than the one from Omen 45L. I was also still not able to find what is the actual limitation to not support this (to know if I could over-write or fix that somehow).
Thanks!

Honestly it's your choice.
but for the type of use you are talking about, I would just advise you to see more on the professional computer side..
I don't think even the new "gamer" computers allow it
moreover, I advise you, rather to seek the assistance of specialist, for this type of software, in order to know which is the best possible choice...
Sorry, I'm not much help, but I think, you probably won't be able to have this possible choice of integrated configuration, plus gpu with this type of computer!..
[edit]
a bit top to find info, there I have two models
BlizzardOC motherboard specifications
SSID: 8819
Z690
Integrated graphics
Intel UHD Graphics 770 (for Core i7-12700K and i9-12900K)
not very clear, but
Back I/O ports
The configuration might vary depending on your model (for example, if a dedicated graphics card is included). Any modifications or upgrades might change the configuration, port accessibility, and port functionality.
HanaAOC motherboard specifications
HP name: HanaAOC
SSID: 8949
Chipset
B550
The HanaAOC motherboard does not support integrated graphics.

Thanks Prométhée, you are really helpful!
You are absolutely right, a professional workstation would better fit my needs for deep learning. Unfortunately, getting such workstation, like the HP Z4 G4 for example, is much more costly than the gaming desktop Omen 45L, even when just trying to match similar RAM/CPU/GPU specs for both workstations/desktops. That is because they use the more expensive CPU (Xeon) and GPU (Quadro) models, among other high-tier differences.
Regarding the integrated graphics topic, based on the Omen 45L motherboard links you shared (BlizzardOC), the motherboard itself has no video output, so seems like it will not support using the integrated graphics card even from a hardware perspective (since there is no way to connect that integrated graphic card from the motherboard to a monitor). The only last-resort option would be if the motherboard's USB-C supported Alt-mode (to connect the motherboard's USB-C to the monitor), but since there is no reference of it in the specs/docs, I assume it will likely not support it.
Thanks again for all your help!

Sorry, thank you for your message
but suddenly I feel useless, because in the end you stay at the same point
Now I'm here to talk about HP product, I can only advise that!
The best advice I think I can give you, with what you have answered, would be to go to forums specialized in this type of use. They should be able to give you several possible configurations, depending on your budget.
take care
