Hi,

It is generally not possible, although some exceptions exist on older Intel MBs, to install newer Intel processors in older Intel MBs. Intel was using a LGA 1151 socket pin count for a couple of years but newer processors require a LGA 1200 CPU socket or a LGA 1700 socket pin count.

The chipset on newer MBs is different and the CPU socket pin count is different.

You would have to physically upgrade the MB to install a newer Intel CPU. HP does not manufacture newer MBs for Legacy PCs.

Regards

Thanks for your response, and yes that is my current desktop... unfortunately i have the one with i7 6700K, however, im planning on upgrading to a newer CPU which has at least 8 cores/ 16 threads.. upgrading with i7 7700K doesnt seem like a big upgrade for me...

Which do you think is the best MOBO for that kind of case? im pretty sure it'll be the mini/micro ATX, but was wonderin if there's any MOBO that has the same layout of I/O ports with the Munich....

Thanks

Sorry, I may not have understood your request correctly
As mentioned, you cannot replace the processor with this original motherboard.
I understand that you are looking for the second version
I've been searching here and there for any newest Munich K motherboard
Now if you want to install other motherboard than HP, it might not be possible
possibly, you would have to find what is in place, in this same type of box ??
