HP ProDesk 400 G4 Microtower PC
I just purchased a TP-Link AC1200 ARcher T5E. Wifi works fine. However, it does have cable for adding bluetooth. 5x2 (9 pin) 1 is blocked. I've found a 9 pin connector on the board. but before I attempt this and short something out. is that 9-pin the USB-2 that the T5E is expecting. The cable is using 4 of the pins (next to the blocked on) Black, Green, White, Red. Black being next to the blocked pin . I can't find any clear diagrams on HP for this 9-pin connector. Thanks! A

Yes, that's it.

Exactly as I assumed...you can see the connector is labeled for a USB SD card reader (SD RDR), so your BT will work from that connector just fine.

Hi:

I cannot find a motherboard diagram either.

I also looked at a 400 G4 motherboard on eBay and I can't for the life of me even see a 9-pin connector.

The diagram in the service manual does not show any internal USB connectors.

All I can tell you that all of my HP business desktop PC's have 9-pin internal USB connectors, and I have installed several PCIe x1 wifi/bluetooth adapters, and used the cable to connect to the 9-pin connector and the BT works fine.

I would imagine that connector is used for the optional SD card reader to connect to, because that would be USB powered.

I have a PCIe wifi device in a Dell Optiplex 7050 MT and I connected it to a connector and used 9 of the 13 pins available, and the BT worked fine that way too.

It looked like this...the cable left the 4 pins exposed.

xxxxxxx

Isn't the connector labeled on the motherboard in white lettering as to what it is?

There does not seem to be any on-board USB headers.  I did find a "400 G4" motherboard here and if you select one of the images and hover to magnify there is a "152" connector but it is not labeled as USB .

There are cables EXT=>INT  USB that can connect from the back USB and can be rerouted to the inside of the case where they can be used in place of the internal.  Get the type with the male pins.  That TP-Link AC1200 works fine.  I put on in a Hackinstosh once.

@Paul, i saw it SD RDR. Then searched and sure it says SD Card reader USB 2 on other websites. However, just wanted to make sure the connecting pins for normal USB 2 device, is same as card reader.

I've attached and Wifi and Bluetooth are both working fine.

@Prométhée, yes, its will be cleaned out. Was just getting the required parts ready for the upgrade.

Thanks for all your help guys.
