HP Pavilion P7-1017c

I am not to informed when it comes to PC world. I have a old PC: P7-1017c it has a max ram of 8gb. So my question is what is a compatible GPU ? All the site states is any PCIe x16 GPU. It don't tell me if the gb can exceed the Mobo max or anything. I need help.

Welcome to the forums.  I will try to be informative, but kind to the novice.

Your computer is circa June 2011, so it might not be worth it.

1) The BIOS is called Legacy.  Only cards manufacturer prior to Sept 2012 will work.

2) Best option is a GTX 660, but that requires a new PSU of 550W-600W, it will have the required plug(s).

3) RAM, it would require replace whatever is installed.  These will work.

4) The heart of the computer is an I3-2100.  That is the gorilla in the closet.  (SLOW)

New about $250-270         New Condition ?

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served. Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..
