Hi @Nokkhotro

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing what you’re experiencing—it must be frustrating to keep seeing the update prompt even after running the installer. I completely understand how disruptive that can feel, especially when you’ve already taken the right steps.

Let’s walk through a focused approach to ensure the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI update is applied correctly and the prompt stops appearing.

Step 1: Manually Remove Any Previous UEFI Update Files

Sometimes remnants of earlier update attempts can interfere.

  1. Press Windows + E to open File Explorer.
  2. Navigate to:
    C:\SWSetup
  3. Look for any folders named SPxxxxx (where x is a number) related to diagnostics or UEFI.
  4. Delete those folders if found.

Step 2: Download the Latest UEFI Diagnostics Tool

Use the official link below to get the most current version:

Scroll down to “Installing HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI to a USB device” and follow the instructions to create a bootable diagnostics USB.

Step 3: Install UEFI Diagnostics from USB

  1. Insert the USB drive into your laptop.
  2. Restart the system and press Esc repeatedly at startup.
  3. From the Startup Menu, press F2 to enter System Diagnostics.
  4. If prompted, allow the system to install the updated diagnostics from the USB.

This method ensures the update is applied at the firmware level, bypassing any Windows-related conflicts.

Step 4: Confirm Installation

After rebooting:

  • Press Esc > F2 again at startup.
  • Confirm that the diagnostics version matches the one you downloaded.

If the prompt no longer appears, the update has been successfully applied.

Let me know if you’d like help identifying the correct version for your specific model. You’ve been incredibly patient—let’s get this resolved so your system stays quiet and focused.
