Hello good morning!

 

I have an HP PROONE 400 G4, with a Core i7 8700. I wonder if it is possible to upgrade the processor to a Core i7 9700?

Check the chipset that mounts the motherboard and it is the Q370. According to the Intel page, this chipset is compatible with 8th and 9th generation Intel processors.

Technically it should be able according to Intel.

 

My question is if the HP BIOS of the motherboard includes the codes to support 9th generation processors or does HP block this possibility in the BIOS?

No Intel 9th Gen core processors are supported.

 

My assumption is that HP has locked the BIOS to prevent such an upgrade, and the ProOne 400 G5's support the 9th gen core processors.
