Hi, Ive been reading a few previoys threads regarding upgrading the HP power supply, but there is one query i have that i havent found an answer too.  my existing 180w PSU is L70042-002, it has the 4 wire P2 connector.  The Pc is TP01-2xxx with Erica 5 Motherboard. The New PSU is M76033-001, this includes 2 x 6+2 pcie connectors and a 7 wire P2 connector. reading other pists i understand the additional 3 wires (red, white and black) are for switching piwer to the pcie connectors. Question is, can i connect this P2 with 7 wires to the motherboard, without causing any damage as i read that the red and white are +/-5v

@Dougaldoug,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

The 550-watt power supply (p/n: M76033-001) will work just fine in your HP Pavilion TP01-2xxx.

The 550-watt "P2" power connector is identical (or nearly identical: 6 or 7 wires, it will make no difference) to my 500-watt (p/n: L77487-001) power supply: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/VCEAAOSwvbJns-qA/s-l1600.webp, which also works just A-OK in my Pavilion.

Kind Regards,

@NonSequitur777,  thanks, so the 5v red and white are supplied from the motherboard? is this already configured for use in systems that utilize the 550w PSU?

@Dougaldoug,

If you mean the additional red & white wires in the P2 connector, no it shouldn't matter.

The additional wires do not damage anything, and the motherboard fully supports them.
