The boot SSD 128gb seems too small and I want to replace it with 500 gb. Which brand fits? How to backup current state and restore to new SSD ? I have multiple options available usb stick and drive and DVDs. Please help.

I found a great free application for this. Extending went as a dance. No problems anymore. Windows own system backup and restore with this is child's play.

@Marttip,

You should be able to use this USB3.0 enclosure for your new m.2 SSD, then swap them out.

Cloning software is free from EaseUS Todo backup.
