My HP Pavilion 590-p0030 was purchased as a floor model from BJs earlier this year. It's apparently out of warranty even though I've owned it less than a year. In the meantime, the system occasionally shuts down because of the HP temperature protection. I use CoreTemp to monitor the temperature, but I don't see any issues when I'm using the PC. It seems to happen most often when I sign a user out from Windows or overnight when nothing should be going on. Should I purchase an additional case fan or an upgraded CPU fan? Any recommendations? Or should I just bite the bullet and upgrade the CPU to an I5 9400? (Currently an I3 8100).
