HP Pavilion 590-p0051na

@Martinj42,

I moved your question in this new discussion thread:

"I have a similar request to what is in the forum. I have a Pavilion 590-p0051na with a small 128Gbyte SSD and a 2Tbyte HDD. I'm looking at what is wise to do to this machine to make an upgrade to Windows 11 work without issue. I have only some 16Gbyte free space at present. I have seen from other forum comments about cloning this SSD to an larger one. But I have only the one SSD bay. What are my options?

Can the 2Tbyte HD be used to temporarily store the 128Gbyte SSD's image?

Many thanks

Martinj42"

Your HP Pavilion 590-p0051na (5YW50EA) as fitted with the Sunflower motherboard (SSID: 8433) and the Ryzen 7 2700 according to the specs. That is good news, because this processor is Windows 11 supported.

It is not clear if you are referring to an M.2 NVMe SSD or a SATA SSD primary (boot) drive. If you are referring to a SATA SSD, then I would recommend installing an M.2 NVMe SSD as your primary (boot) drive in the open M.2 NVMe SSD slot like this HP Pavilion Desktop 590-p0xxx User did: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/48379900.

If you are referring to a SATA SSD and you want to swap it with a larger capacity SATA SSD, I would use a SATA to USB adapter such as this Amazon purchase example in order to temporarily connect your new drive to your PC for cloning purposes, before you exchange your old drive with the new drive.

Kind Regards,

@Martinj42,

Btw, if you are referring to an M.2 NVMe SSD and want to swap it with a larger M.2 NVMe SSD, use a USB to M.2 NVMe SSD adapter for cloning purposes, such as this Amazon purchase example, before exchanging your old M.2 with the newly cloned M.2 drive.
