What is the best way to add an additional HDD to this device. My M.2 slot is filled and I have one 3.5” HDD installed and I’d like to add one more. What is the best way to do this OR what is supported to be mounted in this case?

@AverageUser007,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Your HP Pavilion 590-p0066 as fitted with the Lincs motherboard (SSID: 843B), has three SATA data ports: ODD1 (white), HDD1 (dark blue) and HDD2 (light blue). The ODD1 port is often intended for an optical disc drive (such as a DVD or Blu-ray drive), but since it’s a standard SATA port, it can also be used for any SATA-based device, including an HDD or SSD.

I would imagine that your HDD1 port is used for your existing HDD.

So, all you would need is a SATA data cable (to connect your SATA drive to the HDD2 port) and a 15-pin SATA power cable to provide power to your additional drive.  You could use zip ties or double sided (or Velcro) tape to secure your second drive.

Kind Regards,
