Has anyone successfully upgraded the standard 310W PSU on the 690 to something 500W or higher ?
The connectors on the PSU and sunflower motherboard look to be proprietary. Are there adapters available or wire diagrams if i wanted to cut the wires and adapt to an aftermarket PSU ?
I bought an upgraded video card but it requires a 550+W PSU.
the HP one is stupidly overpriced. L05757-800

There is no known adapter that hacks those motherboards to accept an ATX PSU.

I'm no PC guy but isn't the connection only used to send volts and amps to the motherboard?
Theoretically couldn't I just measure the voltage of each wire and splice those together with the corresponding voltage from another power supply and reuse the adapter?

Not really. There is a "power-on" signal voltage.
You have a variation with the 690-0028b Sunflower motherboard found here
There is a 500W PSU that has the correct plugs, an HP L05757-800.
No one has ever reported using it with the Sunflower.
Here is what I created without support from the community. If anyone took my cross-reference and tried it, it was never reported back. That would have helped. Just "CLICK" on it.

I've changed the stock RX550 GPU to ”XFX Radeon RX 570 DirectX 12 RX-570P8DFD6 8GB 256-Bit DDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card" without changing the PSU. It came with an 8 to 2x 6 pin adapter. I am using the Extra 6-pin from the power supply and a sata (15 pin) to 6 pin adapters to power the card. So far so good, The PSU recommends 500W PSU… so I am a little concerned
I've also upgraded from 8GB Ram to 2 new 8GB sticks (16GB) and the PC can handle me using it for Oculus quest (via link USB) and all is running pretty well.

The comparison of the wattage with the RX550 vs the RX570 is shown here. The XFX Radeon RX570 shows an 8 pin power plug. A 100W different is noted. What are the exact cables from your existing 310W supply. Please list the individual cables, to include that extra 6 pin from the PSU?

There was an extra 6-Pin not being used from the power supply. This was for expanding the system as the rx550 stock was powered from the PCIE slot.
The xfx came with a 8-pin male to 2x 6-pin female. I connected that direct to the card.
I also had a 15-pin sata to 6+2 pin adapter.
I took the extra from the power supply and 6 pins coming off the sata adapter to the 2 6-pin on the card adapter
Extra 6-pin

Thanks for the reply.
Which PSU, there are 2 model # listed here. Which one has the added cable?
Maybe I did not make it clear. How many cables are on the PSU, and what are their individual make-ups.
I always assumed the TWO 2x2 motherboards and the inline 7 pin were standard.
You said you found a spare 6 pin plug (MALE) unused from the PSU. Can you verify it was a PCIEx16 power plug.
You are the first person to report such a cable.
As you said :
1) " 8-pin male to 2x 6-pin female. I connected that direct to the card". You say that left you TWO - 6 pin females (Y connect).
2) The 15-pin sata to 6+2 pin adapter, so it was MALE. You used 6 pins of the Y connect. Correct?
3) The unused 6 pin MALE from the PSU was used with the remaining 6 pin female. 😊 😃
Please reply to this inquiry.
BTW<> stock Sunflower boards have 180W PSU (590-p0044 as example). Add a 50W need from the PCIE slot and the Sunflower gets a 310W PSU. 🤔
