27-xa0068a
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello HP Community,

I am currently looking to buy the HP Pavilion All-in-One (27-xa0068a) PC but I have a few questions before I purchase. I have looked through the specs of this PC and while they are quite good, I was wondering if I could upgrade later on. There are 3 main components that I would like to upgrade.

The first component is the storage. The storage built in is a 2 TB hard drive with an extra 128 GB SSD. While I don't mind the hard drive, I would prefer to have a larger SSD so I was wondering if I could replace the Hard drive with like a 512 GB SSD.

The second component is the Graphics card. The built in graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce MX130 graphics (2GB). This would be fine for now but as I said I would like to be able to upgrade it in the future. Possibly into a GTX 1060 or GTX 1070.

The third and final component is the RAM. The current amount of RAM is 16 GB which I am happy with. But just in case, if needed, I would to be able to upgrade to something like 32 GB.

So for all three of these components, I would like to know if these upgrades are possible and if so, will I be able to do it myself easily for will I need to hire a professional to do it. Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Regards,
CMA

Hi,

You can upgrade the RAM to max 32GB of DDR4 2400Mhz RAM (2x16GB)

It uses a notebook RAM. At the moment there is one 8GB module and one empty slot. So you could insert an extra 8GB in the empty slot.

Example:

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/pavilion-27-xa0065ur-all-in-one#MEMO...

Here on page 14 you can see how to install RAM

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06111214

You can upgrade the 128Gb M2 SSD (I believe SATA3) to a higher capacity drive (no limit to capacity). You can even use a much faster M2 PCIe NVMe drive such as the Samsung 970 Evo Plus or similar.

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/pavilion-27-xa0065ur-all-in-one/CT14150334

You will need to reinstall the OS on the SSD.

Edit: It is not possible to add graphics as it is integrated on the motherboard

Hope it helps,

David

@CMA_Gaming,

Not a gaming machine. See actual specs.

The SSD can be changed. The RAM is fixed at two 8GB modules, ie 16GB total.  GPU is a laptop MX card. There is NO PCIEx16 slot. You do realize that the PSU is only a 150 W external AC power adapter (laptop style).

@Wb2001,
I was just wondering if the graphics card was possible because I saw this on Amazon. Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HBQXTQT?tag=gv18c0162-20.
It is a system with a larger ssd and a GTX1050. I would buy this but sadly it does not ship to where I live.
Is this PC set up in a different way to the one I am buying or is it truly possibly to add a graphics card?
BTW thanks for you help!

@CMA_Gaming,

It is not the same unit. Read the specs page I sent you from HP.

@iomare,

The HP specs page does state "Supports up to 16 GB (unbuffered) with 8 GB DIMMs on 64-bit systems".  But I could be wrong, if HP is wrong. Been down that road before? Crucial always has that "*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory" statement to protect them.
